We’re always on the lookout for great products made right here in the Pacific NW. Here are some that we “met” through Portland’s 3rd Annual Baconfest.

1) Bakon Vodka by Black Rock Spirits. This is one of the smoothest vodkas I’ve ever tasted–definitely made for sipping and savoring, not quick shots. It’s made with quality Idaho potatoes, then infused with a smoky bacon flavor that kind of explodes in the back of your mouth when swallowed. The perfect vodka for a Bloody Mary or a BLT martini.

Black Rock Spirits is based out of Seattle, WA, with its distillery located in Cottage Grove, OR.

2) Bacon Salt by J & D’s Foods. A bacon-lover’s delight! The perfect way to add that salty, smoky flavor to all your favorite foods without frying up the bacon beforehand. Hamburgers, steaks, scrambled eggs, baked potatoes, potato salad, green beans, garlic fries, mac and cheese, tomato soup . . . the list is endless. Best of all, it’s zero calories, zero fat, and 100% vegetarian!

3) Baconnaise by J & D’s Foods. Another surefire bacon-lover’s delight! Only, this time, in delicious creamy form. It’s not quite as versatile as Bacon Salt, but certainly makes a terrific roasted turkey sandwich. I’m thinking it would also add a burst of flavor to salad dressings, dips, and a variety of sauces. And, once again, it’s 100% vegetarian.

J & D’s Foods, makers of both Bacon Salt and Baconnaise, is also based out of Seattle, WA.

Thanks to everyone involved with this year’s Portland Baconfest. Hope to see you again next year!
